Insurance is always a difficult subject for any medical office. It is especially tricky in our office since we deal with two different types of insurance: major medical and vision.

Major Medical Insurance

Major medical insurance is used for medical conditions. Injuries to the eyes, eye inflammations, “pink eye”, cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome are just a few of the conditions covered by major medical insurance.

Vision Insurance

Vision insurance will cover part or all of examinations for eyeglasses and contact lenses. It may also cover part or all of your eyeglasses and / or contact lenses. Most vision insurance plans will cover only eyeglasses or only contact lenses, but not both. We are participating providers with Vision Service Plan (VSP), Davis Vision, and EyeMed. We can bill most indemnity insurance plans.

Combination Insurance

Some people have both major medical and vision insurance, and in some instances we will need to bill both of these for different parts of your examination. Please contact our office for more details.
